WELCOME TO DAVIE YOUTH LACROSSE The American Indians invented it, the Canadians made it their National Sport, and the youth of America have made it the fastest growing youth sport in the nation. Nicknamed The Fastest Sport on Two Feet, lacrosse has infectiously made its way from the hot beds of New York and Maryland to all parts of the United States and many parts of the world. Top-level college programs are fielding players from Ohio, Texas, Colorado, California, and even Florida.
The charge has been led by the private schools in the area, such as 16-time State Champion St. Andrews School in Boca Raton and perennial powers Gulliver Prep and Pine Crest. Other high school programs have been popping up prolifically throughout the state. The demand has driven the Florida High School Athletic Association to officially “sanction” the sport of lacrosse. Varsity or varsity club programs now exist in many of Florida’s high schools including local high schools such as St. Thomas, Archbishop McCarthy, South Plantation, American Heritage, Western, Cypress Bay, and Nova. Currently there are thirty-eight (38) boys and forty-three (43) girls high school programs in south Florida alone and and over 200 high school programs combined, state-wide. Read more... Davie Youth Lacrosse Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization created to promote the development of youth lacrosse programs in the Town of Davie, Florida. Our 2009 youth lacrosse season begins January 26, 2009 and ends May 9, 2009
PROGRAM INFORMATION The program is organized and run by the Davie Youth Lacrosse Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization. Davie Youth Lacrosse is a "travel" recreation program with focus on giving players of all skill levels a quality learning experience and lots of fun playing lacrosse. The players will be taught improved agility, conditioning, team work and respect for the game and other players as well as the finer points of playing lacrosse. The 2009 season is a boys and girls program and runs from January 26 through May 9. Other youth programs in the league are Parkland, Boca Raton, Weston, Ft. Lauderdale, Tavernier, Palm Beach Gardens, Delray Beach, Jupiter, Martin County, and Naples.
We have college lacrosse experienced coaches at all age groups that will teach your child how to properly play the game. Practices are 2 nights per week and games are on Saturdays.
Field Locations Practices and games are held at Bamford/Pine Island Park.
South Florida Youth Lacrosse League (SFYLL) South Florida Youth Lacrosse League is the governing body for Davie Lacrosse and the teams we compete against. The goal of SFYLL is to keep it safe, keep it fun and to teach the game. More information about the league and the teams can be found at www.sfyll.com.
Team Size Teams at all levels will be capped at 25 players. Registrants after the first 25 will be placed on the wait list. Once we have 11 or more wait-listed players registered at an age level, we will have enough to establish a second team of 18 or more. Waiting lists will be maintained for the first three weeks of the season in the hope that we can form a second team. If enough new players don't register to create a second team, the wait listed players will be refunded their full registration fee. We expect to have 2 teams at each level this season.
Game Play Policy Equal game play time in our program is not guaranteed but rather earned through attendance at practice and effort displayed in practice and games. Skill or talent level is not used as the basis for game play time, except possibly during the last few minutes of a close game or during overtime. The full policy can be found here.
Girls We did not have enough interest in the girls program in 2008. We expect to have the girls program going in 2009. Tell your girlfriends about Davie Lacrosse! Girls K-2nd are allowed to play with the boys.

NEWS HIGHLIGHTS Davie Lacrosse at the Florida Marlins September 21, 2008 (4pm) Our first fundraiser for 2009 was in conjunction with the Florida Marlins final home game. The team gave us discounted tickets to sell for the final regular season game versus the Philadelphia Phillies. We started with a tailgate. Then the kids got to march around the outfield before the game started, some practicing their diving catches against the outfield wall. Those who sold 4 or more tickets were entered into a drawing for autographed Marlins memorabilia. Great fun had by all as the Marlins defeated the Phillies.
Second Annual Davie Lacrosse Experience September 20, 2008 The second Davie Lacrosse Experience was a tremendous success. Over 100 kids stopped by during the day to try out the game and test their shot speed on the radar gun. All pro lacrosse player Kevin Finneran was on hand to give the kids a talk and demonstration of his professional lacrosse skills.
Inaugural Davie Summer Lacrosse League great fun June 30, 2008 Our first summer league did not have the numbers we expected but the results were predictable. The kids just played. Goals were being scored like crazy, some actually with assists, and kids had a blast. They got to try out lots of skills, play lots of positions and just have fun. We expect to have a strong and exciting summer league next year.
Xcelerate Lacrosse Camp shines June 26, 2008 Xcelerate Lacrosse Camp, help at PAL Park in Plantation was a great success. "All fun" was a quote from a Davie Lightning player. New skills were taught and the base skills dramatically refined. Team play, offense and defense strategies and positioning as well as conditioning was taught to the players. Each daily session finished with playing the game. Jack (Weston) got a nice new stick and Max (Davie) won a stylish Cascade Pro 7 helmet. Xcelerate will be back next year so keep a spot open on your busy summer schedules.
U11 Team Competes in Boca Blast June 7, 2008 Coach Pete organized a team of 11 and under players to compete in Boca Blast held at St. Andrews. The challenge was to put a team together from Davie, Weston and Parkland players that would compete with the South Florida and Palm Beach Select teams. A roster was selected, a couple practices held and the team put on a valiant effort, nearly beating the South Florida B team and playing competitive matches against the A team and PB Select.
Syracuse star and pro laxer, Liam Banks, works with Davie players APRIL 15-16, 2008 Pro lacrosse player and MVP of the 2000 National Championship game, Liam Banks, worked practices with the Davie players on Monday and Tuesday. Liam played his college lacrosse for the Syracuse Orangemen and currently plays with the San Francisco Dragons professional team in the Major Lacrosse League. Liam talked with the players about work ethic and ran the players though various moves and skills. He then wowed the parents and players with a shooting exhibition and some "slight of stick" trickery.
