TOP AREA COACHES
Our team and position coaches are highly experienced players with coaching knowledge and tons of high level skills. Through our many training programs these coaches are the best at teaching young players how to get better. We love to coach and it shows on the field.
FALL BALL GAME LEAGUE (w/ experienced coaches) Players will be divided up into teams within each age group and assigned a college experienced lacrosse coach. The first weeknight practices will consist of a 1 hour practice with their team followed by a 1 hour lacrosse game with officials. The second weeknight will be a 1 hour game only. The games will be 7v7 format (2,2,2 goal). Standings will be kept online and playoffs will be held the last two games. Fall Ball Champions will be crowned at each division. We are targeting 4 or more teams of 10-12 players at each age group.
FALL POSITION TRAINING Fall Position Training is designed to arm participants with effective position-specific lacrosse skills and techniques and to significantly upgrade their situational lacrosse knowledge (also known as lacrosse IQ). Players will be split up by age group and position. Expert coaches will demonstrate position-specific skills, teach the players the keys for success on each, and run the players through fast-paced drills to ensure mastery of the skill. Coaches will also educate players on the appropriate in-game situation to use each skill. Players will be challenged to effectively use the skills and communicate the key success points to their peers, coaches and parents. Players will be evaluated by their coach at the end of the program on their mastery of the various skills that were taught. Accountability and expectations will be high in this program. We will expect players to work on the skills taught outside of the 2 hour practice. This is for serious lacrosse players who want to get significantly better. Position training is not currently offered for high school players but we would consider doing so if there is enough interest.
Davie Youth Lacrosse Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization created to promote the development of a youth lacrosse program in the Town of Davie, Florida.
The American Indians invented it, the Canadians made it their National Sport, and the youth of America have made it the fastest growing youth sport in the nation. Nicknamed The Fastest Sport on Two Feet, lacrosse has infectiously made its way from the hot beds of New York and Maryland to all parts of the United States and many parts of the world. Top-level college programs are fielding players from Ohio, Texas, Colorado, California, and even Florida.
The charge has been led by the private schools in the area, such as 16-time State Champion St. Andrews School in Boca Raton and perennial powers Gulliver Prep and Pine Crest. Other high school programs have been popping up prolifically throughout the state. The demand has driven the Florida High School Athletic Association to officially “sanction” the sport of lacrosse and Broward, Dade, Palm Beach and Martin Counties are all on board. Varsity programs now exist in many of Florida’s high schools including local high schools such as St. Thomas, Archbishop McCarthy, South Plantation, American Heritage, Western, Cypress Bay, Pine Crest, West Broward, Cooper City, Pines Charter, Plantation, Flanagan, and Piper.
The program is organized and run by the Davie Youth Lacrosse Foundation, Inc., a 501.c.3 charitable organization. Davie Youth Lacrosse is a "travel" recreation program with focus on giving players of all skill levels a quality learning experience and lots of fun playing lacrosse. The players will be taught improved agility, conditioning, team work and respect for the game and other players as well as the finer points of playing lacrosse. Our season runs from late January to the end of April. We will field both boys and girls teams, Kindergarten through 9th grade. Practices are 2 nights per week with games on Saturdays.
Davie Lacrosse Training Academy
See our online video training sessions available on our How To Play page. Be sure to choose your skill level on top Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. These are great video shorts that can teach you fundamentals and finer points of the game.
Game Play Policy
Equal game play time in our program is not guaranteed but rather earned through attendance at practice and effort displayed in practice and games. Skill or talent level is not used as the basis for game play time, except possibly during the last few minutes of a close game or during overtime. The full policy can be found here.

Florida Lacrosse Classic
January 13-15, 2017
The Florida Youth Lacrosse Foundation will hold the Fifthteenth Annual on January 18-20, 2019. This is the main fund raising event for the Florida Youth Lacrosse Foundation. Twenty five Grand Masters teams (45 and over) will compete for the National Championship title. Fifteen Half-Century teams (50 and over) will compete as well over the 3 days. The teams are made up of the premier players from their time. The legs are not as spry but the games are still exciting. The local favorite FROGs (Florida Real Old Guys) won the Brine Division in 2009. This event is used to help fund startup youth lacrosse programs in Florida. We seek youth and adult volunteers for score and time keeping, ball boys/girls, etc. Please consider giving the gift of your time to the organization that has helped fund Davie Lacrosse. www.floridalaxclassic.com
